What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology, or muscle testing, is a gentle, non-invasive, holistic energy therapy. It aims to identify and treat the stresses that cause our body to go out of balance. This is done by gently putting pressure on a muscle and monitoring the response. A kinesiologist uses this bio-feedback from the body to establish the priority issue that needs to be addressed, its root cause, and the most appropriate way to resolve it, enabling the body to kick start its own healing ability and return to a state of harmony. It is done by putting gentle pressure on a muscle and monitoring the response.
Kinesiology is a combination of modern western techniques and the principles of ancient Chinese medicine, in particular meridian energy, and has a reputation for getting results where other therapies have failed. One reason for this is that we are all different, with different genetic make up, upbringings, experiences of life, belief systems, etc. It makes sense therefore that the only true source of the answers we seek will come from the individual body itself.
Kinesiology works with the body's subtle energy systems, allowing energetic healing to take place on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, making it an excellent tool for personal growth and development.
What Happens in a Kinesiology Session
In a Kinesiology session, having discussed the problem and symptoms of the problem, the client then decides the positive outcome that they would like to achieve. This may change as treatment progresses.
The client lies on the couch or semi-reclines, fully clothed, whilst I will muscle test for the priority corrections the body needs to achieve their goal. I will 'correct' the energy system in present time, and at the age the problem first became a disruption to the energy system. The client may be aware of when this was and why, or, as is more often the case, they may have no idea.
No two sessions are the same, as the body itself decides what it needs and when. I use the full extent of my knowledge during a Kinesiology session so I may take information and corrections from many different modalities.
Relief may be immediate, but sometimes it takes a while to integrate and heal the system, especially in the case of allergies and sensitivities. Often I find that 3 sessions are needed, as having done corrections at cellular level, corrections are then needed at subconscious and conscious levels.
A particular advantage of Kinesiology is that it can also be used surrogately - i.e. you can treat someone by means of someone else. This is especially useful when dealing with children and animals. It means they can be treated without adding further stress to their lives, and in the case of children, without adding to their problems the idea that they are not 'normal'. I have found this method especially useful when trying to help children from difficult backgrounds, suffering from trauma, or phobias, or with emotional and behavioural problems.
Benefits of Kinesiology
Kinesiology can have numerous benefits (see past successes), including:
- Relief of emotional stress
- Relief of physical pain and tension
- Improved overall health and immunity
- Improved concentration
- Improved brain function, co-ordination and dyspraxia
- Improved posture
- Improved self-esteem
- Help with personal growth & self-development
- Help improving personal performance
- Behavioural problems
- Help with learning difficulties and dyslexia,
- Increased energy levels and vitality
- Relief of phobias, addictions and obsessions
- Relief of trauma
- Help with allergies and sensitivities
- Identifying individual nutritional needs
- Surrogate testing for children, animals and those unable to be tested for any reason
- Works well in combination with other therapies
"I want to say thank you for curing me of my hip pain. Following my visit to you on 20 March, I took three weeks' rest as suggested ... I went back out running dead on three weeks later and experienced a little soreness afterwards but this disappeared quickly and hasn't returned since. I am now running comfortably four times a week, with an added awareness that I must listen to my body."

My Specialities
There are several different branches of Kinesiology, each of which has its own particular strengths. I practise a number of complementary techniques, specialising in Three in One Concepts (also known as One Brain Kinesiology), Integrated Healing and Touch for Health.
Three in One Concepts
The name Three in One Concepts/One Brain Kinesiology refers to the integration of Mind, Body and Spirit, and it is an Energy Psychology Therapy in its own right. An advantage of 3 in 1 is that it tests off both sides of the body rather than relying on a one sided muscle test, so that it can highlight blockages in communication of one side of the brain to the other, which is a common problems in stressful situations.
Integrated Healing
Integrated healing is a branch of Kinesiology which takes a holographic approach to healing and specialises in the programmes that many of us are unconsciously running. Unfortunately these programmes can hold us stuck in our current state, e.g. self-sabotage, energetic blueprints, neurological switching, energetic fragmentation and more.
Touch for Health
Touch for Health is the foundation stone of all branches of Kinesiology. A powerful healing modality in its own right, it is also an effective but simple self-help tool that has the power to change peoples sense of well-being, their performance levels, in fact all areas of their lives.
More information on all the different branches of Kinesiology is available at the Kinesiology Federation website.
Touch for Health Training
I am an accredited Touch for Health practitioner trainer and offer regular workshops, both for professional therapists wanting to expand their practice and for the layman simply interested in learning more about this powerful and fascinating technique.
