Therapy for Pets
Pets tend, like children, to be very responsive to alternative and complementary therapies, possibly because animals are more open, with fewer preconceptions and belief systems standing in their way.
I offer Kinesiology, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Reflexology and Reiki therapy for animals, which can help with a wide range of behavioural and physical problems.
PLEASE NOTE: Your vet's approval is required for complementary or alternative treatment of your pet. I am happy to write and ask for your vet's consent.
Kinesiology and EFT Treatment for Animals
The beauty of EFT and Kinesiology is that they are so versatile. Their potential is seemingly boundless, and one of the ways it is possible to use them, surprising as it may seem, is by using them surrogately on animals.
Treating surrogately means we can successfully treat a client through someone else, even if that client is not present. We use surrogate treatments when the client is unable to come for a session themselves, or when it is not practical as in the case of babies, very young children or animals. Surrogate treatment is an ideal way to treat pets.
Just as with humans the range of problems that can be treated is vast, whether behavioural or physical. Those who for example find that dog training isn't as successful as they had hoped, might like to consider and alternative and complementary approach to training. Anyone who has watched the Dog Whisperer will understand the importance of energy healing both for the dog and the owner. This is exactly what Kinesiology and EFT are all about.
Reflexology and Reiki Therapy for Animals
Animals respond to Reiki just as do humans. At first the animal may feel a little wary as they are more in tune with their energy systems than most human beings and can feel the movement of the energy in their body. However, it doesn't take long for them to realise that what is taking place is positive and healing, and they usually settle down quickly to relax and enjoy their treatment.
It is also possible to give dogs Reflexology. My own dog receives a treatment every week to help keep him balanced and on top of his 'mystery' complaints!
A Therapy Session for Your Pet
Kinesiology and EFT treatments can take place with or without your animal present. I can either muscle test one of your arms while you are touching your pet, or I can put him /her into your 'electrical circuits' and then get the information I need by testing two arms (I prefer to muscle test both sides of the body, using two arms, as this accesses both sides of the brain and gives more accurate information). In this way you are acting as a surrogate for your pet.
Animals are treated with Reiki and Reflexology in exactly the same way as humans - they simply relax in whatever position is comfortable for them and enjoy the healing experience.
My Successes with Animals and Surrogate Treatments
I first used Kinesiology surrogately with a disabled lady, who had been getting quite aggressive, through her carer. After a very moving session, her behaviour improved immediately and dramatically, as noted by her parents. I then worked surrogately several times with very young children that it was not practical to treat in person, with great success.
This prompted me to try working on my own dog who, although he didn't exactly have behavioural problems, was very excitable. Again, after one session his behaviour improved to the extent that people commented on it. I did the session with the dog present, and again it proved a very moving session which helped me better understand my dog's behaviour.
I have also used this technique successfully with a horse who shied at polythene bags (Kinesiolgy), a dog with an eye infection (EFT), a dog with a 'gammy' leg (Kinesiology), and a cat with a bladder problem (EFT). The eye infection cleared as I was working on it, and the dog with the 'gammy' leg was able to walk more fluidly after his session. The horse stopped shying at polythene bags, and the cat was much more comfortable after the treatment. Again people commented on the difference.
My current dog, who has had a number of 'mysterious' illnesses, developed a heart problem a few years ago together with a number of other organic dysfunctions. He was getting slower and slower, his walks were a real struggle for him, and his tongue was intermittently going blue. My vet could not find a cause and thought it unlikely he would survive more than 2 years, so I worked on him myself, using the information she had given me regarding his condition. On his next check up, she told me his heart sounded good and the pulse in his back legs, which had so worried her as it was very low and faint, was now almost back to normal. Several years on he is alive and well, his heart is much stronger, he is enjoying his walks again (even running, which he hadn't done for a long time), his tongue is healthy and pink even on exertion, and his organic function is much improved.
Therapy for pets is an area of my work that I find really interesting and rewarding. Our pets are like children. Unable to verbalise what is really going on inside of them, Kinesiology and Emotional Freedom Technique give you an insight that you would otherwise not be privy to. I have found all the treatments I have done with animals extremely moving, both personally and for the owner.
